According to EU regulations, we must check the validity of the EU VAT ID every time a new order is sent with an EU VAT ID and EU delivery adress.
The validation is automatically made by marketcom.eu web site by using the EU VIES VAT ID validation service. If this EU service is NOT confirming the validity of the VAT ID, our system adds V.A.T. to the order, even if that VAT ID was checked "OK" for any previous orders.
Reasons why validation may have failed:
the EU VIES VAT ID validation service is offline due to a technical error or due to maintenance, (this does not really happen very often);
VAT ID verification system of your country is offline / unavailable at the time, when you make an order โ you can check actual status per country here;
and the most frequent reason: VAT ID verification system of some countries are not working 24/7, and they are offline (typically in the weekend, during the night or in the early morning, see regular offline/maintenance times per country here.
If this problem happens to your order, and VAT gets added ro your order, please just drop us an email, and weโll revalidate manually the VAT ID and remove the VAT from your Pro Forma.
Also, we are so sorry about this inconvenience, but this is an EU regulation, which is being checked strictly by the tax authority.
